This is a dark, creepy and claustrophobic thriller that can't be read until finished. Kate is offered the chance to exchange her London flat with her cousin Corbin, and heads off to New York City. She plans of taking art classes and her cousin has a job offer in London.

I was so absorbed in this tense, twisty story with Kate and her troubled past and her struggles with anxiety. The characters are perfectly flawed, which makes them seem all the more realistic.

I loved this sinister book and I had a lot of anxiety of my own until I finished.

This is really hard to put down. It is one of those books that builds in suspense as it goes along. I found myself wound up in knots of fear, at times. It is a whodunnit only for a short while, then it is creepy, creepy, nooooo!

My rating is between a 4 and 5. It is a 5 because I did not want to put this book down. I read so many books, but feel that way about so few. The entire premise is twisted, with murder for thrill and voyeurism. Somehow Swanson creates sympathetic characters: is it really so odd to watch one's neighbor? I enjoyed the switchbacks. Just as the book is getting good from one viewpoint, the story switches back and from another viewpoint. The author does this effortlessly. I just couldn't get past that one person (Kate) could have so many dangerous, creepy characters enter her life, hence the four stars. Enough sex and violence to make the book a thriller, but not so much as to be gratuitous. Book received in goodreads contest with expectation of fair/unbiased review
