Historical romance from New Concepts Publishing. Damien, the Marquis of Rutledge announces his engagement to a "Miss Hinglebottom," in a hairbrained attempt to stop his mother from pushing all the young eligible women of the "ton" on him. Imagine his surpise when he learns that there is in fact, a Miss Bethany Hinglebottom. Before Damien can say "marriage bans," his mother has brought Ms. Hinglebottom to London. In another plan to save his bachelorhood, he thinks a long courtship, will result in Bethany being courted by other gentlemen. But, when that actually comes to pass, Damien can't get Bethany out of his mind, and he has nothing good to say about her other suitors. Damien figures out that he's crazy about Bethany. Then, she learns that Damien, "made her up," and never intended to marry her. The story is subtly funny, as Damien tries to get back into Bethany's good graces. This is a sweet, romantic love story.
This was a funny book about how making something up can get you in the end. Lots of fun and tension. A really fun read.
