Rachel Anderson teams up with ex-lover and CIA agent ElijahTrent to solve the abduction of several college students. Rachel and Elijah have a complicated past but have to get past it in order to work together and save these young woman. This was the first book I've read by this author and I thought the romance and suspense were fairly well done. It was a quick read and captured my attention.

I am a huge Lauren Bach fan and this is one of her best books. The hero and heroine have a past and not a good one. College students are disappearing, and it takes both of them, working together, to solve the mystery abductions.

Rachel Anderson is a former agent who now works as a PI. She is hired by a prominent senator to investigate the death of his daughter, and the possible existence of a grandchild. As she prepares to go undercover at the religious college the deceased girl attended, she is approached by the CIA who are interested in the college for other reasons.
Rachel enrolls as a student at Shepard's Cross Ministry, and her CIA contact poses as a computer skills professor. Much to Rachel's dismay (and later delight), her CIA partner also happens to be a former very hot flame.
I don't want to give too much away, so suffice it to say that Rachel and her CIA hottie uncover an "8 mm" type conspiracy without Nicholas Cage.
Despite the over the top premise, I could not help but enjoy this book. As I read it I kept thinking "this is silly!" but the pacing was right on and I kept turning the pages to find out what outrageous thing would happen next. This book reminds me of Iris Johansen but with more sex - a thoroughly enjoyable escapist read.

Great book. Thrills and romance, the best type of story!
This was a very good suspensful and sexy read. I really enjoy this author.
Very good book, I want the next one!
A very good book! I like Lauren's style of writing, she grabs you and keeps you reading!! Rachel is a P.I. and finds herself undercover at Shepherd's Cross, looking for clues about a students death. Rachel didn't know she would be there with Elijah. He broke her heart years ago and she vowed she would never give her heart away again. She just didn't realize how good he would look when seeing him again. Elijah tries to help Rachel when she is brainwashed and drugged but its so hard not to want her again. This story has twists and turns and corruption.
I couldn't get into this book and ended up skimming it. Which is unusual because I've like all her others

EVERYTHING HAS A PRICE. . .
To dig up the truth behind the mysterious death of a senator's daughter, private investigator Rachel Anderson is going back to school. Passing herself off as a transfer student at the small, prestigious college the troubled girl last attended--funded by the powerful Shepherd's Cross Ministry--Rachel finds the secluded campus almost too idyllic, and the girls invited to participate in the "Eve's Circle" honors group too perfect. Too feminine. Too obedient. Not only obedient--completely submissive. . .
. . .ESPECIALLY PERFECTION
Before long she realizes that some of the female students recruited to Shepherd's Cross have been abducted and brainwashed, not as the perfect wives Rachel imagined, but the perfect partners for men whose appetites are dark and sexual. But putting an end to the shocking operation requires more than just a cover--and it means trusting the brooding Elijah Trent, a CIA operative also working the campus from the inside. Together, they plan to expose the ministry's unspeakable secret, a crime which reaches outside U.S. borders and into the realm of pure evil. . .

Just say Yes
While she'd threatened quite a few, there was only one man on the face of the earth whom Rachel hd ever contemplated joyfully shooting. And that man now stood in front of her. Elijah Trent.
"Hello Rachel."
"Good-bye, you no-good piece of ___" She tried to shut the door in his face, but he already had his foot in the opening.
There was only one possible reason Elijah was there. Dwight had sent him.
Realizing there was no way she was going to physically keep him out, Rachel released the door and stepped back from the opening. Instead of closing the door behind him, Elijah left it open.
She boldly returned his once-over. He looked good, she admitted. Damn good. Tall, dark and devious.
I really enjoyed this book. Lauren Bach keeps each and every page interesting. I love all of her books.
