This is another good "Billy Boyle" story from James Benn, but it probably didn't need to be over 300 pages long. It all takes place in Britain, but the events are the result of a British SOE operation in Germany.

I am glad he worked SOE Flight Officer Vera Atkins into the story. A book about her, "A Life in Secrets: Vera Atkins and the Missing Agents of World War II" portrays her concern for the female agents she sent into Occupied Europe, knowing many of them were going to die. The book relates her post-war search for them, or what happened to them. Atkins didn't just pack up and go home, she cared for these women and searched Germany, wanting to know what happened to each and every one of them.

Benn also works Leo Marks into the story. Marks wrote "Silk and Cyanide: A Codemaker's War 1941-1945," which is an excellent story about that side of the war.

Finally, at the end of this book, there is some very, very good news for Billy and his buddy Kaz.
