I absolutely LOVE Harlan Coben.....so having to say this is very upsetting for me....I felt this book was the worst book of his I have read to date....just dragged on & on & I kept waiting for the point that the story would pick up & get so exciting that I wouldn't be able to put the book down.......that never happened! Instead I dreaded picking it up & forcing myself to finish it.

Let me first start out by saying I'm a huge fan of Harlan Coben's writing. I've read everything he has written up to this book. I love his writing style and wit. Unfortunately this book is a big disappointment. It has no draw to the characters, a weak storyline, and horribly cheesy "bad guys" named Ken and Barbie-ugh! Just poor all around. No good witty humor like usual. Tries to be more gritty and just falls flat. If this is your first book by Coben- drop it and start with "Tell No One".

I've read most of Coben's books and although this one lacks the charcter depth and humor, I still found it an intriguing read. It reminded me of a normal murder mystery, a little like James Patterson.

I think my favorite part was not knowing which sicko I should be rooting for. It was an interesting book and a very quick read.

Coben is on my list of authors to keep up with and this was no exception--however, it is not an edge of your seat thriller, by half way through it was beginning to get boring it was so slow, it just takes forever to get anywhere so I finally just skimmed until close to the end where I found the killer and that is all I needed to know.

Enjoyed this book. It catches you from the beginning to end. Interesting storyline. Look forward to reading more books by this author.

This was an awesome book. I couldn't put it down. The characters were well developed and likeable. The plot was well written and there were enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. Always wanting more. Just when I would think I could put it down, something crazy would happen to suck me back in. This is the first book that I've read by this author. I'll definitely be reading more. I highly recommend this book.

Megan Pierce is a soccer mom with two kids and a perfect husband but a bit wild in her younger days. Ray Levine is a documentary photographer and at age forty he finds himself in a dead-end job. Jack Broome is a detective who is working on a cold case of a local husband and father who disappeared 17 years ago. These are 3 lives that will crash together and their hidden secrets from the past will explode and they will find out that there is a fine line between one kind of life and another.
I have read most of Coben's books and I love his humor and wit. His characters are always very colorfully-filled with flaws and secrets. His plots are interesting with lots of twists and turns. This one was a bit of a slow-burner and could have been a bit shorter but it did keep me engaged. I was surprised at the killer but there were clues along the way. This book proved once again that Coben is the master of domestic suspense. I look forward to reading some of his other standalones that I haven't read yet.

This book was very hard to get into, probably should have read an abridged copy.

Enjoyed this mystery especially since it took place in my area when a youth (the fictitious "Welmont" is from Wellesley (MA) where my wife and I grew up and Belmont MA. The plot is enjoyable as are the characters.

This one was a bit different and really didn't have the holy sheep dip appeal as some of his others. Still a good read but not as intense as some of the others. Just my opinion.

I disagree with the reviews that say this is one of his "worst" stories. I enjoyed the book, and like that the people you're rooting for have flaws and secrets that make them think twice about their actions. Most of the characters come from the "seedy" side of life, but they're still likeable because they recognize what's happened to them in the past as something they don't necessarily want to repeat. Good detective story where you get pieces of evidence all the way through.

Typically when I read his suspense novels I need to clear my day and know that nothing will get done around the house. So I waited to start this until I had a doctors appointment and knew I would be waiting. It is a good book but not as great as ALL the others of his I have read.. I could out it down and people could get me to talk while I read this. Good story about people's past younger glory days and how life becomes much more settled later on. I did suspect the killer, but there were several red herring that herring that got me going as well, but not enough to have it give it away.
