Help Center - Will I get a lot of emails if I join PaperBackSwap?

PBS does not share your email address or personal information with anyone; you will not get spam from joining PBS.

  • PBS is very careful not to send too many emails.
    • One or two emails will be sent to you when you register
    • email is used to notify members of Wish List offers and requests to their bookshelves
    • many of the email alerts from PBS are optional and can easily be opted out of in the Account Settings.
    • You can prevent getting "reminder" emails by
      • Responding to requests after the first notice
      • marking your outgoing books mailed on the mail-by date you chose when you accepted the requests
  • When you register, you will get a very important "Welcome email"
    • This email has a link in it to confirm your email address
    • A working email address is crucial to managing your PBS account
    • Until you verify your email address by clicking this link, you will not be able to request books.  If you delete or cannot find this email, you can contact us to ask us to re-send it to you.
  • After the day of registration, how much email you get from PBS will depend on how actively you swap books, and if you choose to use some of the optional site features.  
    • You can opt out of most PBS emails in the Email Settings in your Account Settings. 
    • There are opt-in PBS emails also, such as the Daily Digest and Daily Wish List.
    • There are very rare (2-4 times per year) clubwide emails, which announce important events in the club, such as major feature changes or postal rate increases.
