I loved the humor in this book. Great characters. Abigail and her father are very close and he allows her to be greatly involved with their horses and stables. After his death and her mother remarries, she feels forced to leave when she is wrongly accused of a theft. She finds a job as a nurse during the War Between the States, and as the war ends a patient near death asks her to marry him and go to his home and take care of his ill sister. His home will be hers.

She is taken in by his mother and is accepted as a daughter and loves taking care of the horses. Shortly after she's settled in Jeremiah Calhoun arrives back home. But he is not the Jeremiah Calhoun she married. Now the fun begins. I liked that Abigail used her nursing knowledge.

I was pleased that this was a stand alone book.
