A mother and young son move into a beautiful old Pennsylvania home. Carol wants to restore the home and turn it into a bed and breakfast so as she repairs and researches the house, she discovers that a murder happened in the house and that it was never solved. As she begins to close in on the murderer, she puts her little boy in danger.
Really good book with a solid plot. I liked how the authors were able to weave in elements of the past as flashbacks from the 1920's. Good mystery!

I absolutely loved this mystery. If you like the traditional gothics with the old house and a mystery behind it you'll like this one as well.

Two mysteries, 100 years apart, are interwined together in this page turner.
Warning- This novel is a borderline "cozy," but you'll be spooked if you read it at night!
A Note of Interest- This Pennsylvanian town, the inn, and all the locations in this fictional mystery really do exist!
A good read!

The once glorious mansion needs repair, but everything about it - the chestnut moldings, the soaring foyer, the grand staircase and twenty-two rooms - filled Carol Roblins with hope from the moment she saw it. This was the home that would replace the cramped quarters of her husband's army base. Maybe the fresh start would improve the relationship between Blake and their learning-disabled son, Sammy, giving their crumbling marriage one last chance. But before they can resolve the tensions between them, Blake leaves for a military assignment in Europe.
Alone with Sammy in their new home, Carol delves into her restoration. Fired by a dream of opening a bed-and-breakfast, The christmas Inn. As she recovers long-lost blueprints and researches the mansion's history she learns it was once home to a storybook couple - and a shocking murder...

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me going through the end.
Reads very quickly and is engrossing. You honestly don't know who the killer is until the end.
Interesting mystery set in two time periods.
Good beach read.
