Good book, it covers a lot of events before and after 1494, regarding the accession of Ferdinand and Isabella in the 1460s, up to Magellan and the English Pirates. The book needs an accurate, detailed map. The author should be commended for not spending all the time on the tiresome (to me) court intrigues, but discusses the geography and commerce of the times, as well.
