I let my kids choose various experiments from this book during the summer. We all had a great time doing them. Many were easy enough for my 4 year old to do while others made great "science tricks" for the older kids to show the younger. Most of the experiments involved things that were easy to get. The amount of mess involved varied with the experiments and which kids were "helping". All my kids are now very enthusiastic about science. I highly recommend this for young scientists.
