"What's your game" in 2019?

Set your own goals: Choose one type of game to play...or play a little of several...or play the same game more than once...or play them all!

Cards - Read...:

  1. Ace (of spades): about someone who is a master, pro or expert at something
  2. King (of diamonds): about royalty or a boss
  3. Queen (of hearts): about love or about a tyrant, or read a fantasy
  4. Jack (of all trades): about a tradeworker; or a book with protagonist who takes on more than one persona; or a story told from more than 1 point of view; or a book of short stories 
  5. Ten (of clubs): a book with any kind of club or community
  6. Nine (lives): a book involving survival or that takes place in more than one time period
  7. Eight (infinity): the first book in a series or a book that seems long to you or a science fiction novel
  8. Seven (lucky): a story that involves a gamble/gambling or food
  9. Six (upside down): a book that presents another world or universe or a story in which someone's life is turned upside-down
  10. Five (prime):  a book from the middle of a series or a companion novel
  11. Four (H): a story involving animals
  12. Three (odd) – a book that contains magic or a charm or a story that has a crowd
  13. Two (double): a story with a couple, twins, or something that doubles

Monopoly - Read...:

  1. Park Place: a story involving wealth or money
  2. Boardwalk: a book involving an amusement park or the beach/ocean
  3. Jail: a story involving freedom or a lack thereof
  4. RR: a book involving land-based transportation
  5. Electric company: a story that includes children
  6. Water company: a story involving a body of water (not the ocean) or a storm
  7. Community chest: a story that has instructions, directions or a map
  8. Chance: a book that involves a game or risk
  9. Free parking: a story that has someone/something stationary
  10. Go!: a story involving any kind of trip or journey

Chess - Read...:

  1. King: about someone or something that is coveted
  2. Queen: about a protector, someone with superpowers, or someone (who seems) invincible
  3. Bishop: a book involving religion or politics
  4. Knight: a story set mostly at night; or a romance; or involving chivalry or something old-fashioned

  6. Pawn: about someone/something that appears "trivial" (at least initially), or a story in which someone is taken advantage of/used for a larger purpose

Chess - Read...:

  1. King: about someone or something that is coveted
  2. Queen: about a protector, someone with superpowers, or someone (who seems) invincible
  3. Bishop: a book involving religion or politics
  4. Knight: a story set mostly at night; or a romance; or involving chivalry or something old-fashioned
  5. Rook: a story that involves cheating or fraud or that has a castle
  6. Pawn: about someone/something that appears "trivial" (at least initially), or a story in which someone is taken advantage of/used for a larger purpose

Go Fish!: Replace any four categories above by grabbing something from your TBR pile OR by trying a new author

— only 3 more books to finish my mystery challenge this year so thought I'd do another!  I am going to adjust to include all genres as contemporary fiction is not one of my main genres, though I have read a lot of it in recent months.

Monopoly - Read...

  1. Park Place: a story involving wealth or money— Murder at an Irish Wedding, wealthy family plans wedding of their famous model daughter but bribes many to keep their family secrets
  2. Boardwalk: a book involving an amusement park or the beach/ocean: The Janus Stone by Elly Griffiths
  3. Jail: a story involving freedom or a lack thereof--A Murder at Rosamund's Gate by Susanna Calkins, 3.5 stars, includes jail time and a quarantine
  4. RR: a book involving land-based transportation-- The Wright Brothers by David McCullough,  4.5  stars, bicycle business
  5. Electric company: a story that includes children—As Bright as Heaven by Susan Meissner, 3.5 stars
  6. Water company: a story involving a body of water (not the ocean) or a storm: The Lying Game by Ruth Ware, 2 stars
