I thought we could use this as both a list thread and a discussion thread. But, if y'all prefer, I can make a seperate discussion thread. I can always add links to the first post for the lists. Last Edited on: 12/20/20 7:43 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Readers - don't forget this part: Category names are all taken from movies. If you have seen the movie, or watch it during the year that can fulfill one slot! Surely I'm not the only one who has watched any of these movies! |

Oh, I did miss that, Cindy - thanks for the reminder. I've seen a few, more from the bonus categories (because it's more SF) than the main set. I'm impressed by how many you've seen! Last Edited on: 12/24/20 1:47 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

A lot of them I've seen more than once.....and I think I may have seen Dragonheart, but wasn't sure, so I didn't count it. |

I skipped this challenge last year but I think I'll give it a go again this year. Saving my spot.

I have never done a challenge here at PBS. I stopped tracking at some point this past summer so if i do another one of these I need to be better about tracking books! I'm going to try this year to post more about what I've read in the thread as I go (and try not to crosspost in the 2021 Reading Challenge as I'm doing it as well and I think several of y'all are too). The first book of 2021 was a disappointment: Bewitched by Sandra Schwab. :( It was a book club choice; the cover was a cute cartoonish woman and so I was thinking "magical cozy"! Boy was I wrong; it was basically a historical romance with magic at the end. And I am NOT a fan of historical fiction or historical romance. I was 70% through the book before there was any magic that wasn't just a passing mention. I ended up skimming the last half just to be done with it (I would have quit had it not been a book club selection). Up next is one I knew I'd enjoy: Hell to Pay (Nightside, Bk 7) by Simon R. Green

My personal challenge this year is to read more paranormal books from my long-term TBR (which is mostly paranormal, including SF and fantasy). When we moved in September, I saw how many there were, and then I unpacked all of them into one big bookshelf that is next to my bed so I won't forget about them. I should have a lot more than the 10 for the "zombie" category, so I'm going to mark the ones I list in other categories with "[tbr]" so I can see how I'm doing. |

I finished Bane's Choice (Vampire Motorcycle Club, Bk 1 by Alyssa Day. I really enjoyed it and hope she continues with the series. Characters are well writting and interesting. Great cliff hanger. Last Edited on: 1/9/21 8:56 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Finished two more. One of my goals in the regular Reading Challenge is to get all the 2014 (eek!) books off my pysical TBR pile; there were 25 left at the beginning of the year. The two I read are both off that list:
Enjoyed both; good stories and just solid urban fantasy. I have the other 3 Outcast ready to go; have started #2 and will binge read the other 2 to finish the series. I put Hell to Pay in the American Werewolf in London category and Undone in the Rosemary's Baby category. |

Finished the other three in the Outcast Season books: Great overall story and individual books; loved that I had all four and was able to binge read. So sad that she passed away last year. Up next I'll be splitting my reading between a non-fiction for the regular Reading Challenge and Halfway Hexed (Southern Witch, Bk 3) by Kimberly Frost (I have the remaining three of these too and it's from 2014). I've been taking advantage of the longer mailing deadlines under COVID by posting books I've read that I don't expect I can put into a swap (or that have been through a few already), and then looking for books on the recipients' WLs that I also have and trying to read them too. So far I have three pairs of books going out FIFO that way (plus some single books). Next up for that is The White Road (Nightrunner, Bk 5) by Lynn Flewelling, which I've had on my TBR for at least 5 years. Erin, looking at your list, I don't think I ever finished the Outcast Season series! It rings a bell, but I have a feeling I only read bk 1 and then got distracted - it would've been when my son was a toddler and I definitely wasn't tracking as well as usual. Something to look forward to one of these days since it looks like they're all available FIFO (and my library has a couple). Last Edited on: 1/16/21 4:11 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I'm having trouble getting into some books lately. Started Deal with the Devil by Kit Rocha and it was so not what I was expecting that I need to put it down and come back to it later. |

The last two weeks have gotten away from me and I haven't posted about what I'm reading. I finished the Southern Witch series by Kimberly Frost and have moved on to the Kara Gillian series by Diana Rowland. I have all of those as well (I'm trying to focus on finished series that I already have all of them on my TBR) and am enjoying them. At the beginning of the year I had 25 series with 68 books that I could read or finish the entire series without getting any other books! |
