So: what is everyone planning to start out the year with? New books, next-in-series books you've been meaning to get around to, TBR pile? I'm going to start with Nice Werewolves Don't Bite Vampires by Molly Harper, to mail for the UFP box, and then I've been finishing off a decent PnR series I'd forgotten about that my library has in e-book form - Corrina Lawson's Phoenix Institute series (I just took out the last book, Phoenix Inheritance). |

For me, when I go back to Seattle in April/May, I don't intend to take any of the paperbacks I have laying around here in Arizona. So, I need to start the Elder Races series, try Milla Vane (new to me) and finish up some series I'm currently in. Currently that's like 10 books, but with new coming in and ebooks that's more like 100. I did finish my first though, the continuation of the Kate Daniels series I'm reading. I left books 5 and 6 back in Seattle so I have to wait until hubby comes back to keep with that series though. Hope everyone has a great 2022! |

I read the first Milla Vane book a few weeks ago to mail to you, Hollie, but then I read the second one last week because the first one had stuck in my mind and I wanted to! (Which I have to say is rare lately; I've gotten into kind of a rut of reading things mainly because I need to mail them or they're due at the library, more than because they're the next thing I want to read.) Vane has managed to include in her world-building some cultures that are relatively open about sex, with a certain amount of religious ritual around it, which makes the romance/erotica aspect of the books fit into the high fantasy plot better than it usually does; it's pretty neatly done. |

Oh! Good to know Rebecca! I actually was just FIFO'ed the 2nd book. Maybe I'll have to move #1 up on my TBR list. :) |

Maybe I need to put those on my WL.....or my MWL in the UFPnR VB. |

I started out with Shadowbound (Dark Arts, Bk 1) by Bec McMaster 1-4. It's a trilogy that I've had around for quite awhile. I've taken a lot longer to read it than I usually would. Blaming that on distractions here at my Mom and Dad's, having to prepare 3 meals a day, and going to town to do all their errands. I really don't mind the going to town part - I usually need the break from them! |

LOL, Cindy, I feel the same way about my parents! Love 'em, but after a while I can't hear myself think and I need a break ;). Fortunately they're readers too, which helps, but doesn't stop my father in particular from interrupting my book to talk about his, and such. For some reason I got in the mood to read from my older TBR (even though I have a couple of new and highly wanted library ebooks that I need to finish before they expire... still have a couple of weeks, though), so last night I read a short, 0-wisher book from a UF/PnR author who seems to be mostly under people's radar, but I like: The Wolf Fount (WatchWeres Inc., Bk 1) by Gayla Drummond. She did some interesting stuff with the "werewolf's fated mate" trope - let's just say Things Did Not Entirely Go As Planned. The only thing is, I don't think she's continued the series yet, which is too bad. Last Edited on: 1/5/22 1:29 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Well, I finished my first Milla Vane book. It's a big book (MMPB with 542 pages), so for me, I thought some pieces could have been shortened or omitted. BUT really enjoyed the concept of the story, the outcome, and that it's not completely vanilla. I also like that it appears each book has a HEA. I look forward to book #2 after I stop in Kate Daniels world for bit. |

I finished Her First Take of Fire by Kristin Painter. Her newest book out. Fun read and I love books with Dragons |

|
|||
I am reading delightful Paranormal cozy Be My Ghost [Haunted Haven, Bk 1] by Carol J. Perry. The ghost and their legends are fun. Wonderful characters and a Golden retriever named Finn. Look forward to book 2. |
