Some of our favorites from last year and some new ones

1. Nice to Meet Your- Read a cozy by a new to you author (many cozy authors write under several names and that is okay to use one of those).
2. Next in Line -- Read the next cozy  book in a series you have started.
3. New Series- Read a new to you cozy series.
4. Fruit/Veggie -- Read  a cozy with a fruit or Vegetable on cover or in title
5. Ghost/Pyschic - Read a cozy mystery that has ghost or pyschic in it
6. Granny - Read a cozy that has a grandparent in it (does not need to be a main character)
7. Entrepreneur -- Read a cozy that the main character owns their own business
8. Dead -  Read a cozy that has Dead/Death/Die or Dying in Title
9. Books - Read a Cozy that takes books in a bookstore or library.
10. Holiday -  Read Cozy that features a holiday (Any holiday 4th of July, Hallowee, Christmas etc)
11. Border  - Read a book that is set in a state that borders Canada (Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnestora, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine)
12. Make Up Your own Category.

Alice, I love these categories.  I've created my list and for the Make up your own category,  I chose Read a cozy that features water on the cover or a setting in the book (Ocean, lake, river, beachfront).  My goal as usual is to read at least five cozys for each category.

Put my spot in the wrong place! I moved it. 

I'm going to try this.  I've saved my spot on the list topic.  I haven't decided what I will use for the make your own category spot yet.  Should be fun!

I went a couple years not joining games or challenges.  Alice's chats and the fall Train game sucked me back in.  So I'm going to join these and try to stay involved.

I have really enjoyed reading more these last three months. I get so competitive, if I'm in a challenge, I prioritize reading more than if I'm not. Mostly a good thing, unless I'm trying to force a book to fit a prompt and I'm not enjoying the book.  I need to learn to walk away from those. 

Completed my first entry, using it for a holiday. Mrs. Claus and the Santaland Slayings : Liz Ireland

Cute story. Good world building. What I was missing was chemistry between Mr & Mrs Claus.  It just wasn't there. I'll give the series one more try.

Me, too, Alice.  I was just listing the prompts in case someone else needed a recommendation.  But I got my copy from the library, so can't send it.

I have one cozy finished and another of same series almost finished.  Now to see where they fit.

These are some of my current favorites, and pretty quick reads: 

Silent Night (Raine Stockton Dog Mystery, Bk 5)  Donna Ball, used under Entrepreneur

I finished Up to No Gouda by Linda Reilly. A simple cozy set in Vermont.  The protagonist owns a grilled cheese shop. really good recipes in back of book. Good first start to  the series.

Finished The Dead Season (Raine Stockton Dog Mystery, Bk 6)  Donna Ball for Dead in the title.  I don't know if it's just the dog, but I like these books.  And I really enjoyed this one.  Well, I was a little anxious, but it resolved itself well. 

I am reading Fatal Fascinator by Jenn McKinley.  Love this Hat Shop series. This one takes place in a castle in Sussex, England. Characters are still fun. Love the designs.

I love the hat shop series, and I tried to find this book I didn't know about till you posted it, Alice. Not at local library. Still being processed and with a waitlist at the next library. Not on Libby for any of my libraries. On hoopla, but only in audiobook format. Darn, I wanted to use it for the bingo square of reading a book another player read for the January to March challenge. 

I've Bern reading this hat shop series also.  This one has Bern on my wishlist

I finished A Deadly Inside Scoop (Ice Cream Parlor, Bk 1)  by Abby Collette  I gave it 3.5 stars. It is set in Chagrin Falls, OH. I have been there for a wedding so that is what attracted me to book. Loved all the talk about ice cream. The characters were very interesting especially PopPop. Of course we have a great cat, Felice too. I thought the mystery and solving of the crime dragged on for a bit..Good first book in the series. Hoping to readmore.

I finished Bayou Book Thief by Ellen Byron. It was just okay for me. I like her other series better.

I am currently reading One Poison Pie by Lynn Calhoun. I am quite enjoying it. Set in Idaho. Interesting characters and plot.

I finished Oh, Fudge! (Candy-Coated, Bk 5) :: Nancy Coco (3.5 stars out of 5)  a fun cozy set in at Mackinac Island in Michigan. Lots of fudge recipes. Mystery wasn't too complex. Mal and Mello (Cat and Dog) are sweet.  They dynamics between the two cousins, Allie and Tori, were a bit annoying. Overall a good read.

I am slow to the party, but I started the Hannah Swenson series this year and I am enjoying them.

I am enoying a very good cozy A Trip with Trouble by Diane Kelly. Set in the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.  Ms. Kelly writes very interesting characters and plot. I enjoyed book one in the series a lot, Get Away with Murder is book 1

I finished Death on the Green  by Catie Murphy. Fun little cozy set in Ireland. Wonderful Jack Russel Terrier puppies in the story. 

I finshed Murder in Mesopotamia (Hercule Poirot, Bk 14) :: Agatha Christie. Always good to pick up an Agatha Christie book.  This one takes place in 1936 Iraq with Hercule Poirot. So well written with lots of twist and turns.

I don't seem to be reading as many cozies as I usually do but maybe it's early in the year.  My goal is at least three for each category where other years it's been five for each category.  We'll see how the year goes.

I was rereading a Mrs. Pollifax book. Would that count as a cozy?
