I picked a book for #8 titled The Survivors by Kate Furnivall and I was about halfway through it when a problem occurred. I was diagnosed with glaucoma and told I needed cataracts removed and shunts put in. I just completed this surgery on Monday (for the second eye) and I'm now trying out my vision which isn't perfect yet. After all my good intentions, this has definitely put a kink in my start to this challenge!!!

BTW, I'm finding this a very unusual read for a war story - at least for me - and it's really interesting!

Well, I finally finished this book and it was worth the wait. This book centers on a mother and daughter who are placed in a DP (displaced persons) camp after WWll, Dangers are not over and their ability to deal with them is pretty remarkable. I'm not sure that anyone could have done what they did but it did make for an edge of your seat read. I gave it 4 stars. No cliffhangar ending, thank heaven!
