Since I became fascinated with the TV show Bones, I decided to pick up and ready all of Kathy Reichs novels. Although the show and the books are very different, I mildly enjoyed Temperance Brennan's stories. Until 206 Bones. This was the first of the series that I could not put down, and was thrilled throughout the ride. Brennan goes through some interesting dilemmas in this book, and I was eagerly anticipating the resolution. My only con about this book are the final pages, after the resolution of the mystery (no spoilers, don't worry), when Brennan and Ryan discuss something. Although relevant, it felt empty and too didactic. Did not fit the characters. And It was the most boring part of the book.

The latest book in the Temperance Brennan series, 206 Bones follows the action as Brennan returns to Montreal to explore a series of recovered remains. Even as she struggles to find evidence in the remains that will allow her to identify each of the individuals and provide information on their causes of death, however, Brennan herself is threatened.
The book is interesting and generally well-written, but I gave it only three stars because it was extraordinarily predictable in terms of who did what and why. It's worth reading for the character development, but not a particularly good mystery in my opinion.
Like all of the books by Reichs, 206 Bones has no real connection with the T.V. show Bones. Although the lead female characters in both the book and the show share a name and an occupation, the similarities end there.

I haven't enjoyed the Temperance Brennan books in awhile, but the minute I started reading this one I couldn't put it down. I loved how Reichs used the flashbacks to help Tempe (and the reader) figure out how she got there. This was my favorite of her books so far!

I always prefer to read a series in order and here I started with number 12. Wow. This Temperance Brennan is so unlike the one on TV, it is hard to believe Kathy Reichs is on the production team for "Bones."
This Tempe, besides being older and wiser, does not even share the same personal history as the TV Tempe. I like this one better.
Read this series as if it is about another character and you'll probably love it. Not as much gross-factor science as we get from Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta, or the show, but a steady, readable story.

Not bad, she's not my favorite author but I keep trying anyway! Honestly a decent book to pass the time but not one I'd list as a favorite
Good book. Tempe, as usual, shows her expertise as a scientist and comes through as a winner even though her work is being continually sabotaged. Tempe endeavors to be the ultimate professional in every situation but when the validity of her work is questioned she shows that she is a person who takes pride in herself and in what she does. The book makes you feel a close kindredship to Tempe and you can understand exactly what she's feeling and emphatize with her.
I have read Bk #1 and now Bk #12 in the series. We enjoy the TV series, but I found Bk 12 more closely related to the series.
A very good read. Enjoyed it very much and will read more. I unfortunately find the french used within a bit off-putting, but Reichs usually puts the translation right after it.

Another great Brennon tale.
As with almost all Kathy Reichs' books, I enjoyed this page turner very much. Her plot lines weave in and out with subplots taking you on detours that do nothing but build the suspense. All the characters that we know and love are there...Ryan, Katie, Harry makes an appearance via telephone, Claudel... We meet new characters as well (Pete's family likes Tempe more than him).
In this book, Tempe's competence is called into question. She doggedly tries to find out who is instigating the slander. In Quebec, there is a series of murders of elderly women who seem to be linked and she and Ryan working together try to piece them together.
Highly recommend this book and am looking forward to the next one.

very good addition to the series
I love the Temperance Brennan series!
I really liked this book... several story lines, good wrap up.
I liked this book better then Devil Bones, but I find it harder and harder to enjoy this book series. It is not a bad book, just not as good as say the first 5 in the series. Part of the problem is I am a big fan of the tv show and love the relationship of Tempe, Booth, and her 'squints' As someone else mentioned the books are nothing like the tv series, except for the occupation and name of Temperance Brennen.
I have read every one of the Temperance Brennan books and have always loved them. Temperance in the books is different than the Temperance in the TV series, Thank Goodness!! 206 Bones is as great as Reichs previous books!
