A nice little romance novel, good for a lazy summer day in a hammock.

This book was almost painful for me to read. I usually like Sandra Brown's books, but the heroine was just too unbelievably dumb and naive. I'll chalk this up to being early in Sandra Brown's career. Her later books are definitely better.

A VERY sexy romance

Okay, I hate to admit it, I didn't finish reading it. I couldn't stand the heroine! (Doesn't that make you want to read this book immediately, LOL?) To be fair, I'm not a big fan of romance novels. Friends of mine who are say they like the "becoming reacquainted with a childhood sweetheart" plot, and the "bad boy" hero - and I have to say, the descriptions in this book are fairly well done.

GREAT STORY!!

Laura is forced to sell her family's estate at 22 Indigo Place because of bad business decisions made by her father that were exposed after his death. While that is bad enough in itself, it's the prospective buyer that is the real problem.

James Paden was a high school classmate of Laura's and was known for his wild antics. However, after leaving town right after high school he made something of himself first as a stock car driver then as the owner of an auto parts franchise. Now he's back to prove to everyone that he wasn't the loser everyone thought he was and he has an outrageous plan to do it, including buying that most palatial estate in town, but that's not all.

Sandra Brown brings added life to an otherwise cookie cutter story. Her ability to build characters that you sincerely like (sometimes even when they are seemingly unlikeable)make this book a delight to read. Not one her best but still very enjoyable.

Once the high school bad boy, he'd been too dangerous to flirt with, but too gorgeous to ignore. Now he was all man, and he still had the devastating power to seduce Laura's senses, to make her shiver with emotions she dared not confess...years ago, James Paden skipped town, leaving behind Saturday-night drag races for the thrill of the professional race circuit. He'd burned rubber in the fast lane of beautiful women and big money, but now he's back, a millionair tycoon with a dream--to lay claim to 22 Indigo Place and its alluring owner.
