This novel encompasses the final 24-hours of freedom for Monty Brogan, who faces a 7-yr sentence in federal prison on drug charges. Not as good as "City of Thieves" but Benioff proves in this debut that he is a young novelist worth watching. Comparisons can be made to Stewart O'Nan's "Last Night at the Lobster".
