I enjoyed it. I wished she included a little more detail on how she lost the weight. I don't need her meal plan and her daily workout schedule, it just seemed that she skimmed over that part and I really felt that a bit more detail would have made the book that much better. She doesn't discuss her struggles with actually losing weight - it's just one page she's over 700 lbs and just a few pages later she's having skin reduction surgery because she lost so much weight. I felt like as the reader, I was missing a big piece of the puzzle.

Was unable to finish the story. By the halfway point the story was still about her history and not about her weight and how she lost it....not what I was expecting and was hard to get into the story!

This is a great book about the power of the human spirit to overcome real difficulties. It is a story of one person facing multiple challenges--parents joining a cult, marriage at an early age, weight gain to the point of handicap, yet keeping her sense of humor and responsibility. The author takes responsibility, not blaming others, even when there is plenty to blame. She also highlights the discrimination that overweight people face daily.

This personal account of struggle and redemption is not about diets. The amazing weight loss is secondary to the author's personal transformation from a life of isolation to a life of involvement and joy in the everyday. A good read!
