If they were going to slaughter the merging of Aliens vs. Predator, in which they did with the movie, they could have at least made it more like the novel. Much better than the movie, but still a wreck.

This book is not great.
The movie was hilarious trash, and this book almost as much, but the book seems far superior to the film. First of all, the levels of subtext are off the chart, the story flows better, and the characters are more interesting.
The writer is fairly awkward at times - it seems like he doesn't have a complete grasp of the story flow, but it still manages to be interesting and engaging, as opposed to the movie.
Both were ridiculous, but if they were going to trash the Predator and Alien fandoms they could have made it a little more like the book.
