Oh, wow! This was a terrific book that drew me in and had me falling in love with the characters and Lake Henry, New Hampshire, within several pages. The love story of Poppy and Griffin, the mystery concerning Heather...it all was so engrossing. This definitely was a can't-put-it-down book!! Since I never read the first book about the Lake Henry inhabitants, I'm going to be ordering right now!!

Barbara Delinsky brings back Poppy Blake, from her stunning New York Times bestseller Lake News, in this deeply moving novel of life's second chances and the accidents of fate that can set us free. Lake Henry, New Hampshire, is buzzing over the annual maple syrup harvest, as well as the shocking revelation that longtime resident Heather Malone has been led away by the FBI, which claims the devoted stepmother and businesswoman fled the scene of a fatal accident in California years before. Poppy Blake, her best friend, is determined to prove Heather's innocence, while facing past mistakes of her own: she has never overcome her guilt from the snowmobile accident that killed her partner and left her paralyzed. Playing an unlikely role in both women's lives is investigative journalist Griffin Hughes, whose attraction to Poppy keeps him coming bake to Lake Henry, even though he is secretly responsible for drawing the law closer to Heather. To redeem himself, Griffin sets out to solve the mystery surrounding Heather and becomes the key to freeing Poppy from her own regrets and showing her a rich new future.

Enjoyed this a lot. Good suspense, well written.
Kind of boring. Didn't even finish.
This is the second book about Lake Henry residents and it is just as good as the first, Lake News. I really enjoy Barbara Delinsky's books, her characters are very well developed and feel like friends by the end of the book. Highly recommend both titles.
An Accidental Woman is a sequal to Lake News, and they are wonderful! I have them both listed here...enjoy!

I found this to be an enjoyable read. The one of the main ppl in it(Poppy) is a easily liked and her story pulls at your heart strings.
This is a great read! The book brings back the main character from Delinsky's Lake News, Poppy Blake, and takes place in a great New England setting. Really enjoyed it!!

A love story between kind, gentle Heather Malone and taciturn Micah Smith turns into a mystery when Heather is taken into custody for murder. Heather refuses to speak in her own defense, so Poppy, her paraplegic friend, hires an attorney. Poppy, depicted with love and concern, is convinced it's a case of mistaken identity and wonders if Heather has a twin. Narrator Jennifer Wiltsie portrays police with authority and several minor characters with charming New England accents. Wiltsie accomplishes character portrayal with seamless gender changes. Well-done emotion-laden scenes of fear and suspected betrayal make this a gripping story for a long commute.
Great Delinsky book! This one brings back Poppy Blake from "Lake News". It's set in Lake Henry, New Hampshire, amid the maple sugar harvest. Wonderful story!
A continuing story of Lale News. It was good
really enjoyed this story. The characters are well-developed and her style of writing really draws you into the story and makes you care what happens to each of them. (Unfortunately didn't read "Lake News" first, but liked this one so much that I have ordered it from pbs!)
I really liked this book. Great characters and interesting plot line.

From Library Journal: "Come back, Poppy Blake, demanded Delinsky's readers and she did. The wheelchairbound heroine of Lake News has a lot to handle: a best friend has been accused of murder, and the charming journalist pursuing the story is also pursuing Poppy."
