Another great book by Buchanan. Britt Montero returns not only to solve a murder but to survive a monsterous storm while in the process. Lots of action, a little romance - very readable book.
I try to give a book a chance and I got about half way into this one BUT--
Britt is newspaper reporter on the police beat, so you'd think it would be fairly good, she is also half Cuban and this takes place in Florida, so that being mentioned-a lot of it is about Cuba in some way or another which I didn't find interesting at all, too many words in Cuban that is just a distraction and adds nothing to the book, then too many things are going on to where it was just a confusing mess to me.
One minute you're reading the main story (I think) of the missing boys (which was why I got this book from the library), then it flips to another side story for a few pages, then it flips to her personal life and her mother, then it flips to another story about Cuba, then it flips to another side story, then it gets back to the missing boys for a few pages then it just starts over again and again, so there are just too many side stories happening and makes for a mess.
Don't think I'll try anymore by her.

Britt Montero, crime reporter for a Miami newspaper, is drawn into a web of intrigue and murder when she reports the story of a missing boy. Her story uncovers a series of disappearances of young boys so similar in physical appearance that they could be brothers: tall, slender, fair-haired, and blue-eyed. All vanished without a trace. As her investigation into the abductions of the boys heats up and she tries to locate her father's diary, the most destructive hurricane in decades heads for the South Florida coast. During a chilling confrontation, the storm hits, shattering lives and revealing long-kept secrets.
When a newspaperwoman starts investigating a missing child, she finds a pattern of missing children of similar age and appearance. Her father was Cuban and she finds out he left a diary, and now everyone wants it. Good mystery.
Buchanan's Britt Montero faces evil as well as the worst Mother Nature can throw at southern Florida. A real page turner!
An interesting book that delves into Britt Montero's past. You get to know her better than in most of the other books.
