It's a blend of human anatomical trivia, biological information, and literary and cultural references. The chapters are divided up by body parts. It's very upbeat and cute. More fun to read for the layperson than someone with a bio/physio background.

Darwinian perspective on the body. Very biased & fluffy.
I flinched early on at a misuse of the term 'palimpsest', but soldiered on through uninspiring bodily factoids until the section on genitals. This book on the body incorrectly describes the location of the clitoris. (Also its structure, but I'll give him a pass on that one since it is largely internal, and not part of his avowed topic.) Ouch.
