This is a satirical novel with a lot of sexual spice about modern life in Havana, Cuba. Its star is an independent, clever, sassy young woman with a lot of "assets." She uses her beauty and wiles (without turning to prostitution) to her advantage among European, Canadian, and Latin American men with money in order to accomplish a better life for herself and her mother. It's a quick, and quirky, read by a well-known Latin-American writer, and it made me laugh out loud, always a good thing!
A salacious and fun read!
I've been carrying this around in my briefcase for about six months, reading a bit every now and then. It never holds my interest, though, so I go back to whatever other book I'm reading.
Though I rarely do this, I think I'll just give it up and not finish it. There's nothing really wrong with it, but it just doesn't make me want to come back and read some more.
