A stack of forgotten letters, a diary, and an old photograph. All are pieces of a troubled past hidden for five decades and ready to explode. When Mary Oliver's daughter finds them collecting dust in the garage, the mementos awaken her curiousity. Who was Lt. Robert Walker? Why had her mother's letters to him come back unopened? Her persistent questions force Mary to reopen a chapter in her life that started in 1944 but came to an abrupt finish when Lt. Walker disappeared during WW2. In looking back at her past, Mary wonders if she missed a vital truth. This book is a story of war, sacrifice and love. Ultimately though, it speaks of a journey-a journey we all can take to search the hidden corners of our hearts and uncover the secret of courage.
