A quick YA read about a teenage boy who has to take charge and help his family and neighbors after an accidental nuclear explosion hits Los Angeles. This is not a terribly graphic story, considering the subject, but there are some scenes that may bother more sensitive readers (a dead pet, potentially dead family members, dreadful human injuries), so it is not suitable for younger readers. The plot moves steadily, and the teenage hero is likable and realistic. Recommended for fans of post-apocalyptic fiction.
