This is one of those books you just cant put down, a tenderly written story of the military and its life during war.

This book is a great sequel to Even Now. I enjoyed reading about two completely different views of the war. I appreciated both sides, and thought Kingsbury's did a great job explaining just difficult it is to look past our different opinions and see the foundation between them may be the same! I thought the book was well written for such a controversial topic.
With all that being said, I want to warn readers.... it might be hard to read this book if you have a loved one overseas. It will pull at your fears.

The sequel to Even Now. I can truly say I cried more in this book than any I have ever read! Karen Kingsbury writes with so much pathos - it's hard to not be involved in her stories. Highly recommended!

This was a great sequel to Even Now. It was almost too emotional for me to read in large chunks--I had to take a breather now and then! It is a great story and really makes you think about your own patriotism.

Great book. Need to read the first one "Even Now" first.

Great Sequel to Even Now. Does not fail to disappoint!
Karen Kingsbury at her heartwrenching, page burning best! Another one of those you just don't want to break away from for anything. Warning! Tissue alert!
I loved this story...it picked up perfectly from Even Now and I enjoyed seeing how Emily continues to mature and fall in love. I need to warn you...YOU WILL NEED KLEENEX!! it is a precious story!
I have never cryed so much reading a book! This is the second book, the first one "Even Now" is a must to read first. This is a great book especially if you love and support our mitilary!!! June><>
I have never cried so hard while reading a book in my life. A story of true patriotism. Maybe Karen Kingsbury should run for political office.
Loved it! A sequel to Even Now.
I just love Karen Kingsbury books - and this one was great!
Fantastic book!!
Anything Karen Kingsbury writes is a HIT in my opinion. This book, and it's predecessor, made me laugh and cry and hurt and rejoice at every turn. Highly recommended Christian fiction!
Heartwarming and heartwrenching story contrasting two generations falling in love, and exploring their feelings about the war in Iraq/Afghanistan. I thought the characters were well written - Kingsbury has a gift to help us see and understand the hearts of all her characters.
This book captivated my husband and I soon after the first page. This second of the series evokes all sorts of emotions from laughter to tears and everything in between. A very good read.
Both of these books are excellent reads. Karen Kingsbury knows how to tell a good story, excellent writer, one of my favorites. JWalker
Awesome. I have cried and laughed. This was a great conclusion to the story of this family. I love everything Kingsbury writes.
All books by this author are excellent. This book was weeded from the Church Library collection to make room for other up to date books by Karen Kingsbury. Book has a call number on spine to I books can be shelved and found by parishioners. This has been a favorite and has been read.
This book, despite the fictional characters IS REAL. It portrays the situations of thousands of military families today. This book definitely took a sharp right turn from predictability. But that is what Karen is good at, writing about God's plan, not ours no matter how difficult it is to understand.
Like Karen said, I found this book to be about love and sacrifice. They are completely intertwined with each other; displayed first and foremost by Christ. Being that God lives in us inside our hearts, it is actually no surprise that sacrifice is necessary when trying to express our love for each other. But the beauty is that the sacrifices we make for each other don't have to be painful if they're made with loving hearts. And when made, they bring us both closer to Him and closer to each other. Pretty amazing stuff.
Whether you support the war or not, please take time to read this. It provides an incredible insight to the military and God's perspective on our ways. It'll probably make you cry, but you'll reflect on it for days and learn so much on how to apply it to real life situations.
