I had this book from an Autobiography and Journal Writing class from college. I wouldn't have normally picked up this book with the intentions to read it, but I did find it very interesting (even though most of the book took place before my awareness of TV and such). I gave it an "8", but someone might think it is better than that.

This book is a good account of Mary Tyler Moore's life in marriages, TV shows, her diabetes, people she knew, etc. It is chronological, so it is an easier read.

What a wonderful book. A tribute to MTM,s life, and how she overcame such lack of self esteem, and carried on with every job she undertook. I always admired her, but now I think she is one of the bravest women I have ever known or read about. I was going through a personal loss, and needed a good cry. She did not fail to deliver. GinaK

I found this a great book. I have always admired MTM so much. Her life has been far from easy. She has battled addiction, divorce, tragic death of loved ones, diabetes, poor self esteem and more. I started the book and couldn't put it done.. finished in a day.

This is an interesting autobiography by Mary Tyler Moore. She had a pretty rough childhood and dealt with demons in her adult life as well. Of course, there is a bit of name dropping of Hollywood people, which is always fun to read.

Very interesting read about Mary. If you liked her on tv you'll enjoy reading about her real life. Makes her even more real. I enjoyed the read.

I found the first part of the book informative and interesting but thought the las tpart was just kind of thrown in there for the sake of a few more pages. It was like she ran out of steam and just wanted to get it done. She definietly was not the Mary we see on tv.

Didn't know much about MTM before reading this book! I enjoyed reading her honest personal story ... remarkable woman!

Guess what? Mary Tyler Moore is ... boring. At least her poor-little-me-my-daddy-didn't-love-me bio is. The lively "inside" stories (funny an otherwise) one generally expects from celebrity tell-alls (or tell-somes) are conspicuously absent here.

There is nothing compelling about this book. Moore gives the same, though little, coverage to major events like the death of her son and to her erroneous "affair" with Dick Cavett. She comes across as shallow and self-obsessed. If you liked Laura Petrie or The Mary Tyler Moore Show, leave well enough alone. In addition to being glad when I finished the book, I found myself disliking Mary Tyler Moore, the person.
