Suzanne Paris a loner always moving gets of the bus in Walton, GA. She meets the mayor, a widowed father of six. She tries to keep her distance until she can move on but the emotional pull of the love of the family and town has opened her eyes and heart. Very well written story of awakening to the awareness of her feelings and emotions she has hidden from childhood.

An excellent sequel to 'Falling Home'. The residents of Walton, GA are true examples of southern hospitality. After losing his wife Joe is left to raise six children on his own. Suzanne Paris has a history in Walton that she is unaware of. She stops to stay for awhile in the town hiding from her former fiance. Sparks fly when she meets Joe and the relationships take off. A good read - wonderful characters. Makes me want to take a trip to Walton to see if all these wonderful people really do exist. I recommend both 'Falling Home' and 'After the Rain'. Book would make more sense if 'Falling Home' is read first but 'After the Rain' also stands alone. Carol

I had never read a Karen White book, but I really enjoyed the story of Susannah and Joe. Past heartache in both of their lives was changed when they sparked passion between them.

Magic of small town Walton, Georgia and a charming cast of characters
Found this book utterly charming and the characters were believable. I sometimes wanted to shake the one sister, but... we are all human. Recommend this book highly. Southerners will especially "get it"
