I've really enjoyed reading this trilogy by Kat Martin. All the stories seemed refreshingly different. But, the third one, AGAINST THE LAW, is my favorite.
In this story, youngest brother, Dev, has a problem making a commitment to any woman. (Sound familiar, ladies?) He becomes involved with a very independent woman (Lark) who recently "inherited" her sister's child to raise. The plot winds thru a gangland slaying, a kidnapping, drug cartels, Mexico and finishes off with Dev finally trying to come to grips with a possible "long term commitment" with Lark. I ALMOST had to feel sorry to hear his pain. Makes me believe that perhaps I've gained insight into an age-old problem.
And, of course, Kat never disappoints when it comes to steamy love scenes and loads of passion!! She hints that three of the characters in this story (Dev's ex-Marine buddies) are going to have their own stories as she expands the trilogy.
Enjoy!!

This is my first time reading this although parts of it did drag and there were moments that even stretch my disbelief (like taking an untrained person into a full fledge rescue mission) it was a decent book. I liked the danger elements. The side characters were intriguing. I just wished Dev and Lark didn't dance around each other so much.
I will search out the other two in the series.

Lark Delaney's sister gave up her daughter when she was just a teenager to be adopted. On her deathbed she made her sister promise to find her and make sure she was in a good home. She is pointed to Raines Investigations by a good friend who is sure Devlin Raines can find the little girl. There is an instant attraction between Lark and Dev which he is determined to ignore, he doesn't mix business and pleasure, and never with clients. Finding the child turns out to be harder than they thought, and more dangerous in the long run. Good story, two parts: saving the child then finding her again after she is taken by cartel members. 5 stars
