This is the first Agatha Raisin book I've read & I thoroughly enjoyed it. Agatha is an abrasive yet loveable character in a small English village. It was a great mystery, but the best part is M.C.Beaton's style of writing & character development. There were some laugh out loud moments & I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

Somehow I had gotten these books out of order and had to go back and read this one. For some reason I had confused it with a Nancy Atherton book; well, at least that is who I think it was.
After taking a break from Carsely and James Lacey, Agatha returns from her cruise with a few extra pounds and finds that she now has competition for James affection and its none other then a tall, beautiful, well put together woman by the name of Mary Fortune.
When Agatha finds that Mary has taken the gardening club by storm she sets out to beat her at her own game. Since Agatha is not against cheating to win at all costs, remember the cake incident in the first book, she sets out to win both James and the gardening award.
When mysterious incidents start happening around Carsely and a curious murder occurs, its up to Agatha, with the help of the wayward James, to solve the crimes and to find out how much Carsely really loves and appreciates Agatha.

In this 3rd book of the Agatha raisin series, Agatha finds a new woman seems to be receiving particular attention from her handsome neighbor. To make matters worsem the woman is beautiful and quite the green thumb! With the local Garden Day approaching, Agatha wishes to gain some attention for herself and kick that 'other woman' down a notch or two. After digging up dirt on her compatition, Agatha finds herself in another fine mess - another murder - and another scandal. Lighthearted and an easy read. Perfect for a lazy day.
