A charming beautician with a gift for seduction is poisoned in his salon - Agatha Raisin is in top form as she plunges feet-first into another local murder.

Great book! The storyline and mystery were a bit silly and I was able to figure out who the murderer was early on, but I was glad that James wasn't featured in this one. The series continues to be enjoyable for me and I think Agatha is funny, but I would like for her to get over the men in her life! :)

The local ladies deemed him a "wizard", so when, to Agatha's horror, she finds several coarse gray hairs poking out of her head-and the rinse she tries at home turns her hair a lovely shade of purple-she makes a beeline for Mr. John, the handsome Evesham hairdresser who promises to work his magic on Agatha's coif. And the charming beatician also seems to have designs on Agatha's heart. But their future together is cut short when Mr. John collapes from a fatal poisoning in his salon--and Agatha suddenly has a murder case in her hair. Was it one of Mr. John's many customers, all of whom divulged to him their darkest secrets? It's time for Agatha to get to the bottom of this hair-raising mystery

To quote from the St. Petersburg Times review, "Agatha is a glorious cross between Miss Marple, Auntie Mame, and Lucille Ball with a tad of pit bull tossed in. She's wonderful." In this one, Agatha falls for the new hairdresser in town, but then when he is murdered, finds out he wasn't the Mr. McDreamy she had thought.

Agatha is an attractive, middle aged women seeking adventure, romance and freedom from boredom, but often finding the wrong man and murder. I find I am addicted to this series of stories.

Another good mystery with Agatha, James, Charles and several villagers plus Bill the policeman. Surprising resolution at the end, of course for M.C. Beaton.
After a home dye job ruins her hair, Agatha Raisin, the prickly yet lovable amateur sleuth, turns to the wonderful new hairdresser in the neighboring town for help. And as Agatha soon learns, Mr. John is as skilled at repairing her coiffure as he is at romancing her heart. But the charming Mr. John isn't all he appears to be. According to gossip around the salon and the village, some of his former clients seem to be afraid of him. Could Mr. John really be a ruthless blackmailer? When a murderer strikes at the busy salon, Agatha must discover the truth and the killer's identity before it's too late.
