I really enjoyed this book. It's the first of the series. It is easy to get into and flows well. It's been a while since I had a book that was a "light" read. It's a science fiction/space spy/adventure story. It also has an interesting slant on how to make a successful spy in space. It follows 2 humans long after humans have colonized other planets and have come into contact with other intelligent species who are space-able. I think I will really enjoy where these authors take me in their series. I recommend it.

Review: Val Con you'Phelium is a spy in the middle of a deadly mission. Miri Robertson is an ex-mercenary turned bodyguard on the run from the mob. They run into each other in the middle of their troubles and wind up sticking together, sometimes against their best judgment. This is a fun action book with a nice bit a romance thrown in.

Overall I enjoyed the book, though I was occasionally left scratching my head trying to figure out if the different groups named were races or species. I did enjoy the one truly alien species that was encountered in the book. The Clutch were very well thought out and written. The characters in general were well written.

I enjoyed the way that Val Con and Miri's problems resolved themselves For me it was nicely unexpected.

The only part of the book that didn't entirely feel right was the romance. It felt a bit rushed to me, like they were only interested because the author wanted them to be. I could certainly see them falling for each other eventually, but not as quickly as it happened.

I was really excited about this book, having read excellent reviews on various sites. Sigh. It had its enjoyable moments, but the details are forgettable.
