A family member is murdered horribly. Cross is investigating and his investigation takes him into territory that is dangerous - right to the White house. Not a good thing to be poking around in the closets of the high politico's, including the top job. Cross runs into a lot of brick walls and warnings to back off, but he continues on in the face of that and a very ill nanna mamma. Very Good story.
