This book will make you think about what could still be found in some of the last remaining unexplored regions of the earth.
Good read, with an exciting storyline.

I'm a big anthropology fan and loved this book. A lost link between Greater Apes and man is found in Africa by a couple of research scientist. The adventure starts from there.

In an unexplored Kenyan savanna, a paleoanthropologist finds a boy whose physical characteristics match those of the "missing link" and realizes that he's discovered a place that has escaped the normal evolutionary processes. Soon the modern world threatens to encroach on his bond with the boy as a poacher tracks them down and another anthropologist threatens to steal the discovery. Their only hope is to disappear into the forest with the boy's tribe.

This story was a refreshing departure from what I normally read. It is fiction presented as a mini study in paleoanthropology set in the Rift Valley of Africa. The premise for the story is a portion of the Rift Valley
that has gone undisturbed and unchanged for more than three million years and is presented as a transition in the evolution of our species. It contains all the bad guys you could possibly want plus the good guys, greed, corruption, political chicanery, and academic arrogance. All in all a good heavy read considering the subject.

An interesting mix of science both fiction and fact that really makes you think about humanity and what it means.

I could not get into this novel. I did not appreciate the writing style. I am sure others will, but it was not for me.

Interesting read, but a little too drawn out.

This was a very good book but very technical. A good read even though it took me awhile to get through.

Sometimes a bit slow, but overall, a good book.
This book was right up my alley. Combined my love of history with the modern world. Posed and interesting question. What would happen if an ancient hominid survived to the modern age?
Although just a bit too long, this is a fascinating book. The author writes very well and the story absolutely holds your interest.
The subject matter is well-drawn and compelling. The story deals with the question of what it means to be human and in what ways humanity has changed over past centuries. I learned so much about anthropology and how we humans have evolved. I truly enjoyed the story.
