This is the second book in the Prescott Sisters' Trilogy. I did not like this one as much as the first book but still worth the read. The first and third books are: "Just the Way You Are" and "Close to You". I would recommend reading these books in order.

Although a sequal it doesn't seem to need to be read in order. I didn't read the first. Also based on the title you would think this is just another romance novel. However, despite it having a romance take place there is a lot of suspense and drama, reminds me of a Nora Roberts

2nd in the Series of the Prescott sisters. Wonderful read!

Very cute story line. Not overly realistic regarding the military connection in the male lead, but it gave him the rough & tough image the author wanted. Tied into the first book in the series nicely. Very quick, easy read, finished in 1 day even with numerous distractions.

Books in a series are not always equal, but this one does not disappoint. In fact, it only makes you look forward to reading the next in the series.

this series of books are all good. each one is good by their sales and together as a series. read one you'll want all of them.
this is the 2n'd book in a trilogy in was ok but the other 2 books were really really good.
Readers who were wooed by the first installment in Dodd's contemporary Prescott sisters trilogy, Just the Way You Are, may be disappointed by this unlikely, terrorism-based tale. Orphaned, separated from her siblings and shuttled through foster care, landscaper Pepper Prescott relies on her inborn wiliness and the militaristic self-help strategies of author Jennifer Napier, an active U.S. General, to overcome life's challenges. But when she witnesses her idol shooting an aide who threatens to expose her sale of government secrets, Pepper flees to the Idaho ranch that once provided her only stable home. Her ex-boyfriend Dan Graham, now an undercover Special Forces agent, is keeping up the ranch in an attempt to draw out an international terrorist intent on killing him. Despite mutual deceptions, the two rediscover both trust and passion before the General, Dan's terrorist prey, two of Pepper's long-lost siblings and a passel of U.S. forces converge at the ranch for the melodramatic denouement. An excess of unrealistic plot points and purple prose ("she screamed out loud, an incoherent cry of inexpressible fulfillment") mar the story, and the character of garden-loving, gun-toting Pepper never quite gels. Still, the starkly beautiful setting and the raw sexual bond Dan and Pepper share will please readers with a taste for the dramatic.
This was a great follow on to the first book. The characters were wonderful, and there was a lot of insight as to why they were acting the way they were. Ms. Dodd's writing is very concise, every page built to the climax. Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Can't wait for book 3.
I got this book from a reader in the paperback swap club and it was a great book! Thanks paperback swap and thanks readers!! GREAT BOOK CLUB!

I read Close to you and loved it! so I decided to go backwards and read the other two prescott sisters stories. I never should have bothered. The interesting characters and well thought out plot line found in Tonue in chic was glaringly missing in this book. The herione was so incredibly irritating that it was completely hard to believe that hero really wanted to be with her...I mean really. I did the speed read version of this book. Sighing in relief when it was over. Too bad there is not a satisfaction guarantee on some of these books. $7 is a lot to waste on nonsense like this one. Skip the first two prescott books...go straight to Close to you and read Christina Dodd from there. It is obvious her writing has greatly improved over the years. Her new stuff is great.

I love Christina Dodd's books. I like this series, exciting and keeps you on edge. Fast reading, couldn't put the book down.
Jackie Porter/Pepper Prescott is on the run. She witnessed a murder and ran to the only place she felt safe -- an Idaho ranch that belonged to her foster mother. Now she finds that her foster mother has died and left the ranch to her. Dan Graham has been taking care of her ranch while he recuperated from injuries sustained while in Special Forces. Dan and Pepper have a past together; Dan hopes to rekindle it, Pepper hopes to keep him at bay.
This is my first book by this author and frankly, I'm not impressed. I'm not opposed to sensuality but this book went overboard. It became boring, not sensual. Then there's the problem with the heroine. I cannot imagine how she took care of herself all those years with her dithery mental processes. Should she trust Dan or not? On and on and on.
Then the person Pepper saw kill her assistant (in the opening chapters) is the integral linchpin to the dangerous terrorists Dan is trying to entice into his trap on the Idaho ranch (that Pepper now owns). How outlandish is that? This story is beyond far fetched. Another problem was with the language used sometimes; it bounced from corny to overly-dramatic.
Now I've found out that this is the middle story of a series (see below). I don't plan to read any of them.

General Jennifer Napier is Jackie Porter's role model, so when Napier is in town autographing her latest book, Jackie gushes out her life story to her before rushing off to work. Returning to get a book signed, she sees something that sends her fleeing across the country to her foster mother's remote Idaho ranch and back to her real name, Pepper Prescott. At the ranch she finds Dan Graham, the son of a neighboring rancher who had won both her love and virginity when they were teenagers. He is ostensibly taking care of the ranch, but in reality he is serving as bait for a vicious international terrorist. Both Pepper and Dan are vulnerable characters with huge abandonment issues, but their mutual passion is blazing.
