The first book in Hallaways new Vampire Princess series introduces us to Anastasija Parker, a somewhat geeky high school student with a penchant for the drama club, who at her 16th birthday will find that her absentee dad isnt the deadbeat her mother told her he was. She also finds out that shes not a true witch like her mother and is quite possibly, more like her father a vampire king.
Now her mother and father are fighting over what her destiny will be and shes got two boys with crushes on her one a witch and one a vampire. And then theres the strange behavior shes starting to exhibit at school.
How will she choose?
Once again, I really enjoyed this book by Hallaway. Her characters are quirky, fun and struggle with the answers. It didnt hurt that the story is set at a fictional high school in St Paul that closely resembles Central High School and the setting is in the St Paul area and since thats where I live, it was fun to imagine this all happening around my neighborhood.

I don't typically read young adult books, but am glad I picked this one up! I enjoyed the story very much, looking forward to the next book in series.

Ana is just your average teenager who considers herself a loser. Shes got one blue eye and one brown, and is supposed to pass her initiation into her mothers coven, the True Witches. Ana has tried and tried to summon her magic, but just cant seem to get it.
After a fiasco at failing her initiation, she learns that shes a 1/2 vampire, or Dhampyre (Damp-ire). Her deadbeat dad is the prince, and Ana is the princess.
Now that she knows shes got both witch blood and vampire blood in her, both sides are trying to get her to join their ranks. Which side will she choose? Not only is she being persued by both sides, she now has 2 love intrests, The sexy rock band True Witch/vampire hunter Nickolai and the sexy vampire Captain guard Elias. Whats a girl to do?

What a quick fun read! I really liked pretty much all of the characters in this. It flowed very nicely, had me giggling in parts and made me a fan of Ana. Yes there were some similarities between this and some other YA vampire books but it was done in a fun way.
I recommend this :)
