Emma has made an enemy of her old friend, Milo. She and Vida are on their own to find a killer who is as elusive as a ghost. Surprising ending and some shocking things happen to all my favorite characters. Loved it!
A very good book. I read all of the Alpine books in the order that they were written.
A nice cozy mystery like all in this series, but they read better if you start at the beginning - "Alpine Advocate" and go thru them alphabetically
Great characters. Mary Daheim's great series. Very thorough writing.
Up to her usual high standards.
The brutal stabbing of local philanthropist Einar Rasmussen Jr. outrages folk in the old logging town of Alpine. But, strangely, editor Emma Lord of the Alpine Advocate can scarcely pry a word out of the victim's reclusive relatives. Sheriff Milo Dodge isn't much help either, now that he and Emma are no longer an item. So intrepid Emma goes solo, hot after a story that sparks through town like wildfire, fueled by rumor, malice, and the deadly antics of a maniac.
A very enjoyable series!
