Started slow but ended up liking the book in the end. The characters warmed up to me.

Chapters told by different family members: Sadie, her older sister Juliet, and their mom. Their father/husband has just had a stroke and is not the man he once was. He can not communicate any longer and needs daily care. So Sadie leaves her job as an art teacher in Brooklyn to come home and care for him. And runs into her first love back in her hometown. Who now has a baby with someone else. And Juliet, the brilliant one, is struggling with anxiety and career issues. And their mother is struggling with a marriage that was never perfect and a husband who now needs care. These three women are struggling with various issues which they need to resolve including their relationships with each other. Good resolution at the end.
