Excellent Read, and a quick one! James Rollins takes us on another adventure, this time through the lush and dangerous jungles of the Amazon in search of a cure that could save mankind from a strange new plague. What they uncover is amazing, horrific, and spellbindingly wonderful to read. I definitely recommend this one. One of the better from 'his' bookshelf. :)

Another super James Rollins adventure story! I took this book with me on a business trip to Florida and read it on the plane and at the hotel. Hard to put down with non-stop action and very interesting premises about life itself and how man may have evolved. Some very wicked people were also in this adventure - Louis Favre and his Indian girl-friend "Tshui" (who got thrills out of torture and shrinking heads!) had to be some of the nastiest villians I have encountered in recent memory. Overall - a fun and exciting read.

This is my first Rollins book. It is a gripping adventure tale that takes off fast from the beginning and builds up to ludacrous speed.
Featuring protaganists that you really like and villains so evil they care nothing that all human life is on the brink of extinction. Rollins weaves a Very Entertaining story. I really enjoyed it.
As soon as I finished it I listed it here and ordered another book by Rollins.

This book grabbed me from the first page. Could not put it down. Its a combination of adventure and science fiction takinig the reader into the utmost reaches of the Amazon jungle and the secrets to be discovered there. I sincerely hope the human race doesn't destroy this part of the world. It is ripe for the imaginations of writers such as Rollins and for science as well.

This book grabbed me from the first page and wouldn't let me go. It reminded me of Micheal Crichton's "Congo" but was a thousand times better. Amazonia was the first book I've read of James Rollins, but I am definitely going to hunt down his others! A must read for everyone who enjoys this genre.

This was a wonderful adventure! You have to suspend reality to really get into the story, but it is an awesome read. If you enjoy Ckive Cussler novels this is a sure bet for you.

What a great book!! I couldn't put it down. It struck every emotion, just what I like in a book!!! The secret world of the Amazon, who knows what you will find there.... The Tampa Tribune has it right on the cover "Gripping... A first-rate nail biter." I just can't get enough of this author!

This was the first James Rollins book that I ever read. It has non-stop adventure like an Indiana Jones movie & it has a plot that is so wonderfully plausible & thought provoking. On top of all that he makes it so you really care about his characters. I have read everything he has written since this & Ive never been disappointed.

I have added this author to my must read list. From the beginning he jump starts the adventure, and keeps the reader rockin' and rollin' through to the end. Some Indiana Jones, a little sci-fi, just a bit of romance, stuff blowing up and gunfire, with history, and eco. topics thrown in. Yee Haw! I've enjoyed 2 novels so far, and have noticed similar plot tricks in both. That will not stop me from reading anything else he writes.

Gosh- I'm hooked already and only a quarter of the way into it! I've attended lectures by Mark Plotkin and read his book, Shaman's Apprentice. I am a forestry consultant and have attended Tom Brown, Jr's Tracking School. This is a must read for you adventures out there. (armchair and/or out of doors).

The best thing I can say about this book is something my friend's husband said to me. I had recommended the book to his wife, and he told me never to suggest any more books to her because she couldn't stop reading it. To me that says it all. My friend said that she thought that she would stop reading when the action calmed down a little, and before she could catch her breath, it started up again. It was exactly that way for me.

Amazonia may be my favrite James Rollins story (although I have said that before about others of his books. There is mystery, high adventure and some breathtaking encounters. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you pick up this book.

This is the first book I read by James Rollins. It starts out with an expedition disappearing into the Amazon jungle and one of them coming out 4 years later. He had gone in with one arm and came a back out with two, and then he dies. The son of one of the original expedition members organzies another expedition to go in and see if they can find out what happened to them(and, of course, try to find out how the guy grew his arm back!). It is a really good book with adventure(think Indiana Jones and Temple of Doom type) and paranormal (at one point there are fish like creatures that live in water but also can travel on land and are chasing people). It is a book that I have on my "Keep to read again" shelf and have read it several times. James Rollins first several books all have adventure and paranormal in them, but I like this one better than the others.

The first book I've ever read by James Rollins. The wonderful storyline and his more than exquisite writing style takes you right into the Amazon rainforest, following this group of people as they explore a mans mysterious reappearance. Rollins takes you through the many stages of the adventure, happiness, shock, saddness. I recommend this book for anyone who loves action and thrills.

Trippy! Once this plot gets rolling, there's no stopping it-- and as the suspense builds, so does the stack of possible explanations you keep inventing and discarding in your mind. I kinda think of this one as 'Lovecraft meets Crichton.'

The mystery of the Amazon Rain Forest is a chilling setting for edge-of-your-seat mystery and the very jungle itself seems to be developing intelligence to defend itself against outsiders. I loved this book, and George Guidall's reading is excellent.
