Mary Ann Mitchell writes about eating flesh the same way a foodie writes about fine dining. Not for the faint of heart or squeamish.

one of the most memorable books i have ever read. its been several years since i cracked its cover and it remains one of my favorites. its dark, and twisted, and delightfully intelligent. one of the few books i would read more than once.

This book is disturbing to say the least. I finished it in a day & I don't know whether it was because I was engrossed in it or if I just wanted to hurry up & get it done. It is definitely not a book for the squemish. It revolves around a mans religious views, cannibalism & the anti-christ. I think it rates in my top 5 of most horrifying books I've read. I'm so glad it's over with!
An interesting story to say the least. I thought is was going to be the story of a fictional serial killer. Actually it is a fictional tale of the Anti-Christ.
Jonathan has always been very spiritual...in his own way. He aws raised to believe in the sacraments, and even as a child his favorite was always Communion, the eating of the body of Christ. Since he was taught that we are all made in the image of God, it seemed only natural to him to take it one step further - to eat actual flesh from a living body. He started with small bits of his own...
But now Jonathan's an adult. His religious belief may have faded, but his taste for flesh remains as strong as ever. He's long since moved on, from eating his own flesh to eating that of others. But when his wife discovers his grotesque secret, Jonathan is faced with a problem. And his solution leads him not only to new extremes, but also to ametting with a mysterious straget - a stranger who holds the key to an evil force far greater than any Jonathan ever dared imagine.
