USA Network (whose tagline is "Characters Welcome") sponsored this beautiful art book that features several world-renowned photographers. Each photographer was asked to propose a project that would exemplify in images the "Characters" of America. From hundreds of proposals, these are the ones that were selected. Each photographer spent several weeks during the summer of 2008 catching the unique images included in this book. I grew up in a small town, so I especially liked Eric McNatt's section on Brownwood, Texas which features beautiful images of sports, cheerleaders, a beauty queen, a rodeo clown and a local honky-tonk.
