This book is perfect. I was instantly drawn into the Chestnut family's world where a second civil war is underway, ostensibly caused by the former government's energy policy prohibiting the use of fossil fuels. American War is simultaneously a reflection on American wartime behavior in the not so recent past, a cautionary tale regarding the future, and a page turner that can't be put down once started.
