I'm shocked. This was the only Cynthia Eden book I have read that I didn't devour. It wasn't horrible but definitely lacking. The plot was a little dull and so was Keenan. He was wooden and didn't really have a personality. Sam or Az were more interesting. On top of that, he is super dumb. How many times are you going to leave your girl behind so she can get attacked?

Nicole was okay but I can't figure out if she is weak or a kick-butt character because she goes back and forth. She can barely fight off a human but yet can take out an angel.

If this is the first book you have read by Eden, try her other books. They are so much better.

Cynthia Eden is a weird, but enjoyable author. Her "voice" is different than other authors, but once you get into her rhythm, her books are great.

However, this book wasn't her best effort. She briefly mentions Night Watch, but doesn't include any characters from former books.

The plot isn't all that exciting really--rather a ho-hum paranormal read. Her heroine didn't thrill me, although I didn't hate her...and her hero was hunky enough, but I didn't love him.

All in all, a perfectly "fine" read--but not a great one. Her earlier paranormals are better.

Keenan is an Angel of Death. One touch from him and your soul departs your body.

Nicole is a school teacher who is attacked by a vampire. Keenan is supposed to take Nicole's soul, but instead he kills the vampire. His wings are taken from him and he is Fallen.

Good story. I especially liked how Keenan becomes more human throughout the book.

Nicole was bitten one night while on her way to church to pray. She faught back. Keenan is an angel of death. One touch and that's all that is needed. Instead of touching Nicole and taking her life, Keenan instead kills the vampire who was attacking her. Unknown to both, Nicole accidentally ingests vampire blood while fighting for her life. Keenan loses his wings and falls. He wonders about Nicole and finds her 6 months later.
This ties into this author's "Night Watch" series. It is the same world (but different characters and "The Fallen" stands alone). There is a lot of action. Both human and supernaturals are after Nicole. I liked that she was able to safe herself numerous times. I liked the romance. This was nice, in that both characters weren't completely good, they were more gray.
The main character in the next book, Sam, I would label as bad in this one. I'm looking forward to his story. He has something that motivates him and I want to find out what!
