I have to say that I was a little disappointed. The first half of the book set this story up to be something special. I liked the characters, their intensity and their plight. And I enjoyed the action and the incredibly hot sex, though at first somewhat brutal. But then something happened. The hero and heroine began to do things that I thought were rather unbelievable and truthfully downright out of place. The action seemed to drone on and on, leaving me frustrated for some sort of tension release. And when the release came it was altogether anti-climactic. As the story moved on, the characters became overly dramatic and misguided in such a way that I battled with even finishing the book. But since I had already read 300+ pages, I felt I might as well. I'm not sure what to say now, except that if you decide to read it, be prepared to be thrown in so many directions that you may lose track of where you are in the first place and if you really want to get there anyway.

This book is on my top 5 romance novels list. I ADORE the complexity of the emotions they experience and the accounts of the trials they ecounter together. I have this book, but I will never post it trade away. I reread it too often to let go of. I happened across it some 12 years ago and such luck has elluded me since!

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy Historical Romances!
