I'm sorry that I bought it - Boring, depressing rather than fun.
So many well written books die in obscurity. It's a pity to see something like this sell so well. I thought that a bestseller had to be a good read, as well as have a great premise. But apparently, premise is enough...
I had a hard time pushing this book. The violence is depressing, and there's no feeling of triumph, despite some victories.
The author tells rather than shows. Repeatedly, characters that we barely know tell us that the protagonist "will be a great angelologist". But, she acts like a good little girl, a clerk and a nun. No action or memory showed that she was special.
***SPOILER***
The characters triumphed over their challenges too easily. Two scary thugs are taken out by a lucky shot from a moving car by someone who had never held a gun before. Suspense building, then nothing, flat. Oh, that was easy.

This book was painfully detailed. It took forever to wade through all of the details while reading even a single paragraph. In concept, I think the book is totally unique, and I have often wondered about the mysterious nephilim from a scant few Bible passages. I was quite disappointed in the ending, also.

Lushly written, this detailed and fascinating novel utterly absorbed me, and was certainly unlike anything that I have ever read before! I really enjoyed it, though I can see how the writing style may not be well-suited to every reader. Some of the sentences were overly florid, though I do feel that style reflected the lavish world Trussoni created. The characters, though well-constructed and sympathetic, spoke in the same style as the prose, detracting credibility. I would imagine that this would be a hard audiobook to become enraptured in. There were a few minor editing errors, but my biggest complaint was the redundancy. I suppose if you didn't read this book in less than twenty-four hours the constant reminders, re-caps and refreshers would be helpful, but to this reader they were deeply annoying and only served to lengthen and unnecessarily draw the action out even further. Most of the story's threads were neatly tied, but I do hope that Trussoni writes a sequel - the detailed world she created could certainly be explored further, and there were definitely some lingering questions that still hung in the air after the last page was turned.

Angels are out there---and they're not nice!!! Intelligent, well-written genre novel. Not at all my usual type of book, but I really enjoyed it and will definitely read the sequel when it comes out.

I really enjoyed this book. Fun, high paced fiction that makes you think and has wonderful visuals. Definitely had a Da Vinci Code feel and page-turning pace. Would love to see this made into a movie if it has not already been done. Can't wait to receive the sequel!
I waited to read this book for quite some time. I wanted to love it but simply put the middle of the book stayed with me clouding my judgement. The beginning of Angelology pulled me in. It was fast paced and interesting. The middle was like the book that would not die. I think it was something like almost 200 pages of nothing but backstory. While I can appreciate a backstory in any book this just dragged on and on with conceivably no end in sight. Once I was able to get through the drone the last third of the book picked up considerably and once again made the reading enjoyable. It was probably the book that took me the longest to read this whole year! I wanted to give it a solid 4 stars but because of that hideous middle I'm holding at a solid 3. It's interesting that the ending of the book was anything but and completely left itself open for a sequel, whether I read it or not is something I will have to think about.
I was so disappointed in this book. I cannot believe this piece of trash was on the NYT Bestseller List. The story and plot was all over the place, the blatant Eurocentrism was a huge put-off and the ending was so dissatisfying. The writing is so undisciplined and childish.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the unique story line and the characters. I love a bit of paranormal in my stories.
After seeing stacks of this book at Sam's club and the huge number of people 'wishing' for this book, I put myself into my local library's queue for a copy. I love books dealing with Biblical themes, from non-fiction books dealing with newly translated scrolls to utter unbelievable but what-if fictional stories. This book was well-written and carried the reader along at a fast pace, while dealing with subject matter that clearly falls into the fantasy deep-end of what I hesitate to call, even loosely, Biblical fiction. The plot line was fleshed out until the last 5 or so pages, when the author turned the book in a direction that seemed to negate all of the previous pages. When this happens, I don't know whether authors have written themselves into a corner or whether they're just tired of dealing with the manuscript. To me, the ending made reading the book a waste of time. Sorry.
Would make a great movie.
