Robert Asprin's first two Mything books are spot on in several respects. They're great fun to read, with "punny" humor, some of it a bit more adult in nature, and tongue in cheek mockery of humans through fantasy characters. The books are descriptive without being heavy, giving the reader enough to connect with the characters but not feel bogged down in emotion as more rich tomes might do. The fantasy aspects are cute, charming, and keep the books moving along.

Reading this copy, which is actually two books in one, I found some of the summary work in Myth Conceptions to be repetitive and boring, but it was obviously necessary for when there was a space between publication.

I give both these books four stars. I can't wait to read the next two books, also in a combined edition, and my only demotion in rating is due to the fact this isn't exactly a challenging read for someone with lots of literature under their belt. But they are a fun read and I definitely want to see what happens next!

These are the first two books in Asprin's Myth series, a favorite of my husband. Since I finagle him into reading quite a few recommendations from me I decided to give this a try.

Both stories were very enjoyable, I love the satirical/punny take on the fantasy genre as a whole. Some of their device's are repeated from one book to the next, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary for series writing.

These were fun, quick reads with an entertaining take on the fantasy world, wizards, demons, dragons and the like.

I recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy and humor together. These definitely are not for someone who looks to dark fantasy/horror/romance as their favorite genres though :) but it makes for a humorous read and a way to almost cleanse the palate if you move between many genres like I tend to do.
