Beginning the tale of Hitch and Cole, Parker writes an intriguing tale of friendship, loyalty, and honor. Hitch and Cole are hired as Sheriff and deputy in the lawless town of Appaloosa. They are brought in to try and bring order and peace to the city being run by Bragg. Then enters Allie, a seemingly nice innocent woman that falls for Cole and vice versa. This becomes the pivotal plot. We follow the gunslingers as they try to catch Bragg in the act, protect Allie from herself, and have a few gunfights along the way. I enjoyed this story very much. Resolution is the second book in this series, and it takes off where this ones leaves off and elevates the story. The characters are great, as is the dry humor of the two main characters.

Another excellent offering by Parker, introducing a new character. Hopefully this will begin a new series.

Rootin' Tootin" good ole cowboy story. Reminiscent of all those good tv series with the good lawman against the bad guys.

Enjoyable new series by Spenser's author, Robert B Parker, about two tough nomadic lawmen in the wild west. Straight forward stories in Parker's easy to read style.

I've read quite a bit of Parker's Spenser novels, but that didn't prepare me for this. It's like a whole new author in the western genre. All I can say is, wow. Eyeopening, heartfelt, realistic action, in depth characters, a story that will really grab you. If you saw the movie and thought it was only good, or so-so, please read the book, the characterizations are so much better. Parker at his best. I guarantee, if you read this, you'll be picking up Resolution, Brimstone, Blue Eyed Devil, and.... oh... sadly, there won't be any more. Thanks Robert for sharing your wonderful talents with the reading world.
