Suddenly becoming Viscount Asherwood and the lord of an English manor was enough of a shock for pro quarterback Brent Asherwood. Finding out he could lose it all if he didn't marry the cousin the whole family referred to a an ugly duckling was too much. Brent was damned if some dusty old will was going to control his life. Then he actually met the swan that Daphne had become--and realized that what an eccentric relative had really left him was a legacy of love.

Entertaining marriage of English culture and American football.
Great book with a happy ending :)
He's an American football professional whose father was English. He inherits a title and little else unless he marries a woman chosen by his now-deceased grand-uncle. What to do, what to do?
Pro football player inherits and English title and estate and lands himself in a whole pile of trouble in the form of English relatives:Daphn, the "double bagging" dog, suave Aunt Cloe and the vamp, Lucilla. What happens is something every good man deserves and must, naturally work hard for.
Very enjoyable read, Catherine Coulter is hard to beat.

A fun novel.
Good read.
I guess I am a real true blue catherine coulter fan because i enjoyed
this book but maybe not quite as much as most of her others. You have
to stick with it on some books, although I agree basically that the
book should catch your interest right away but if you stick with this one you will get into it. earl h, meldrim, ga.

From the back of the book: What would an American football star do if he suddenly found himself an English lord? It wasn't something pro quarterback Brant Asher had ever bothered to think about---until the day he learned of his inheritance. He was now Viscount Asherwood, heir to an English estate and a whole lot of trouble.
Brant had inherited the obligation to marry Daphne, charitably described to him as an ugly duckling. This wasn't and attactive prospect for a man who enjoyed the pleasures of bachelor life---until he met the lady in question. Her reputation was obviously undeserved, because she was no ugly duckling, she was a beautiful swan.
