An excellent introduction to economic thinking and theory--but not a dry read! The Original Freakonomics.
One of the first, and still one of the best, "pop econ" books. This is a fine book to whet your appetite for the fun side of economics, but it's not a great source for learning the textbook presentation of the subject.
